BASSMIDI configurator

BASSMIDI Driver is a MIDI synthesizer driver that is used in conjunction with a MIDI program to play MIDI files with little lag and latency. This is one of the alternatives to laggy Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. It runs on the same core .DLLs as its sister-like synth, CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth, and is constantly compared to it.

Polyphony: Limited by frame limiter on BASSMIDI 1.x, unlimited 500 on BASSMIDI 2.x/3.x/4.x (2 port version)

64 bit patch: - C:\Windows\SysWOW64\bassmididrv and C:\Windows\system32\bassmididrv (Two different architectures for 32-bit and 64-bit programs)

Sound Quality: Med-High

MIDI OUT Port: "BASSMIDI Driver" (Older versions), "BASSMIDI Driver (Port A)" and "BASSMIDI Driver (Port B)" (Newer versions)

  • Lesser minimum requirements than CoolSoft

DisadvantagesEdit

  • Plays with more lag than most synths on old CPUs
  • Can be staticky at times
  • Can break if messed around with and is hard to fix in the event that it does break
  • Lags at very short notes spamming in PFA
  • Problems and/or bugs under Windows 8
  • Hasn't been updated since 2012
